Arcadia named a Tree City USA for the 14th year!
Posted Date: 1/8/2008
The National Arbor Day Foundation has named the City of Arcadia a Tree City USA for the fourteenth year in a row. To obtain this designation Arcadia once again met the standards set forth by the National Arbor Day Foundation, the National Association of State Foresters and the United States Forest Service. Trees in our cities and towns across the country help clean the air, conserve soil and water, moderate temperature and bring nature into our daily lives," said John Rosenow, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Tree City USA status recognizes the work of elected officials, staff and residents who plant and care for the community forest. Trees are a vital component of the infrastructure in our cities and they provide environmental as well as economic benefits. A community and its citizens that recognize these benefits and provides needed care for its trees deserves recognition and thanks."
