Arcadia Transit ID Cards Arcadia Transit Identification Cards can be obtained for free every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30am at the Community Center. These cards are available for seniors 62 and older as well as persons with a disability. The cards allow qualified persons to ride Arcadia Transit for 25 cents.
Carefree Café One of our most popular senior programs is the Carefree Café. Low-cost lunches are available at the Community Center Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for $2.00 per person. Entertainment is provided on select holidays. A reservation is required one week in advance – please call 626-574-5130. Reservations can be made the same day ONLY if there are extra lunches available. Information And Referral Services Arcadia Senior Services has staff available to answer questions and provide assistance on issues that concern older adults and their families. Interested persons may schedule an appointment with Esther Reynoso, Information and Referral Coordinator, for a comprehensive assessment of a particular issue. OTHER PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO LOCAL SENIORS FRIENDLY VISITING AND TELEPHONE ASSURANCE The Visiting Program offers seniors who are convalescing, confined to home, or just lonely companionship and reassurance. Volunteers provide social interaction for seniors who may not otherwise have any personal contact. A visitor may go to the senior’s home for an up-to-an-hour visit. Clients may request two daytime visits per week. The Telephone Reassurance Volunteer calls the client based on an agreement made between themselves and the volunteer. A maximum of five daytime calls may be requested. An application process must be completed prior to the initiation of either service. HELP IN THE HOME Do you need an extra hand around the house? If so, call 626-574-5130 for a list of potential aides to provide housecleaning, meal preparation, laundry, transportation, and other assistance for a fee. Some of the aides in our registry are certified, licensed and/or bonded. Upon completion of an application, an information package and list of potential hired hands will be sent to you.
MEDICARE, INSURANCE, SOCIAL SECURITY AND OTHER GOVERNMENT BENEFITS Senior Citizens Services offers literature, classes, and seminars for those trying to make sense of Medicare and other government programs, including income tax.
NOTARY PUBLIC Free notary services are available to seniors. Two documents per visit will be notarized for seniors at no charge. Please bring your documents to the Community Center, or call 626-574-5113 for additional information.
