Along with our extensive book collection, the Children's Room provides paperbacks, videos, audio cassettes, CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, puppets, magazines, read-along (book/tape or book/CD) kits, and encyclopedias. We also provide bookmarks and lists of reading favorites. More than you ever wanted to know...in the Online Databases The Library subscribes to many online databases. Grolier Online is one which is designed especially for children.

English isn't the only language we offer...International Language Collection The Children's Room provides bilingual and non-English languages materials. Please ask at the Children's Services Information Desk for more information. Get in line to get online at the Children's Computer Center Children may login to these computers on a first come, first served basis or may make reservations for a later time if the station is occupied. The Reservation Station is located at the Children's Information Desk. Children must login to PC Cop with a library card or a library guest pass to use these computers. Each session is up to one hour in length, with a maximum of two session per day. Do not leave young children unattended at the computers.
"Learning Stations"
The Children's Room provides four Gates Foundation workstations loaded with a variety of educational and entertaining programs for the younger patrons, many offering sound and opportunities for interactive activities.
Internet Stations
The Children's Room offers seven Internet stations and three Catalog Only stations. Printing is allowed from these station to the Public Print Stations, located near the Catalog Station and in the Tech Center Copy Room. Printing is $.15/page. All public computer users, or the supervising adults for younger users, should be aware of our Internet Users Agreement. Please ask at the Children's Services Information Desk for further information. We have the award winning Newbery and Caldecott Collections The Children's Room offers a browsing collection of the Newbery and Caldecott medal winning books. Both the Newbery and Caldecott winners are chosen annually by the American Library Association. The Newbery is awarded for the book with the best text and the Caldecott is awarded for the book with the best illustrations.
Volunteers are here to help you Volunteers are available to assist Library visitors with the public computers, finding books, check-ins and check-outs of materials, reserving study rooms, and special programs. You're welcome to ask them your questions and, if they don't know the answer, they'll help you find someone who does. If you are over 13 years of age and wish to earn community service hours for school, applications are available at the Circulation Desk or by clicking on this link to the Volunteer Application Form. The Children's Room has four display cases and large areas of wall space dedicated to art work and items owned, created, or collected by children. The Children's Services Staff welcomes children, parents, teachers, or group leaders to sign up to display materials. Please ask at the Children's Services Information Desk for additional details.
