Gene Glasco
Elected: 4/10/2012
Term Expires:  4/12/2016

Gene Glasco is a native Southern Californian who was born in Los Angeles and moved with his family to Arcadia in 1954. He is a resident of the north Arcadia Highlands and lives in the same home he grew up in fifty-nine years ago. Gene attended Highland Oaks Elementary school, First Avenue Junior High School, and is a 1966 graduate of Arcadia High School where he lettered in Junior Varsity football and played second trombone in the AHS Marching Band.  Interestingly, Gene is the first elected Arcadia City Clerk that is also a graduate of Arcadia High School.

Gene enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967 and served for six years. He spent eighteen months in-country Vietnam as a Radioman with and in support of "Brown Water Navy" patrols and enemy interdiction on the rivers and canals in the Mekong Delta. After Gene's separation from military service, he attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles, graduated Dean's Honor List at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, and attended San Jose State University where he majored in Public Relations and minored in Asian American History. While still in college, Gene was awarded a PR scholarship and interned with Pan American World Airways in San Francisco. Gene worked in the travel industry for a few years, eventually owning and operating a busy travel agency in Los Angeles before making a career change to the foodservice industry.  After a few years, Gene formed Glasco and Associates, Inc., a foodservice brokerage company in Santa Fe Springs with sales and marketing operations that spanned a territory from San Luis Obispo to San Diego. After twenty years of successful operation, he sold his company to a competitor to pursue his lifelong ambitions in the real estate business. Gene is a full-time Realtor and Senior Real Estate Specialist with Century 21 Ludecke in Arcadia and represents sellers and buyers of residential and income properties in Arcadia and throughout the San Gabriel Valley.

Gene has been a volunteer in various capacities for the city of Arcadia and community at large. He was a two term Commissioner and Chairman on the Arcadia Senior Citizen Commission. Gene is also serving his second term as President of the Arcadia Historical Society and is active as Vice President of the Arcadia Highlands Home Owners Association. He enjoys helping protect his community by serving as an Arcadia Police Department Volunteer In Patrol Support representative ("VIPS"),  assisting in crime deterrence by demonstrating a regular presence through patrolling the residential areas and business districts throughout the City of Arcadia.

Gene is fluent in Tagalog, the Philippines’ national dialect, and is conversational in Spanish. He enjoys studying customs and nuances of many different cultures and enjoys travel in the United States and abroad when his time allows.

Gene's other affiliations include: Member - California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, Certified Instructor- California Department of Justice, Member- California Association of Licensed Security Agencies, Guards and Associates. Fraternal associations include: West Coast Chapter President, Gamewardens of Vietnam Past to Present Association, Director, Vietnam Unit Memorial Foundation, Coronado, CA. Member, Marines Memorial Club, Disabled American Veterans-Life Member, and Veterans of Foreign Wars-Life Member.

Gene is proud to represent and serve the citizens of Arcadia as their duly elected City Clerk.
